L'azienda
Renner & rennersistas is a fourth-generation family winery. Raised among vineyards, harvest seasons, and the bustle of the cellar, siblings Stefanie, Susanne, and Georg Renner grew up with a natural sense for the rhythms of nature and the vibrant life that defines a working winery.
Still, each of them eventually left their rural hometown of Gols in Burgenland to explore life elsewhere – seeking out fresh perspectives and forging their own paths. Years later, each returned home with renewed curiosity, a deeper respect for their roots, and fresh ideas for what viticulture and winemaking could be.
In 2014, Stefanie and Susanne took over the family winery and launched the rennersistas label – creating space for a new generation of wines and ideas. Like any family, the story evolved: in 2021, Susanne stepped away to pursue a new chapter, just as their brother Georg was ready to join. Since then, Stefanie and Georg have guided the winery together, with care, intuition, and a hands-on approach that reflects their deep connection to the land.
Renner & rennersistas is all about values. The work is rooted in biodynamic farming and a thoughtful, minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. Guided by the cycles of nature, Stefanie and Georg focus on creating the best possible environment for healthy, vibrant vines and expressive grapes.
La vigna
We farm 11 hectares of vineyards with space for biodiversity that are located withing 4 km to the winery, all of them are worked biodynamically. All of our grapes have always been picked by hand. We do soft pruning since 2012 and of course also throughout the year lots of manual work. All year long we aim to have great biodiversity in the cover crops, which is rolled and then mowed before harvest. The green shoots are only cut after summer solstice. After harvest, local sheep graze the vineyards, helping to maintain a healthy ecosystem and enjoying the freedom of the land.
La vinificazione
Spontaneous fermentation and hand-picked grapes only. Short skin contacts, very often with grappes entière. Time to rest on fine lees – in oak and clay. Racking happens only when needed, in some cases only once before bottling. Minimum 6 months of ageing in different vessels - up to 3 years.
I vini
Light and energetic wines with multiple layers. All of the wines are basically cuvées, because we always pick one vineyard in at least two different pickings to maintain freshness and acidity in the wines coming from an earlier picking. We always want to focus on the fruit and the energy that comes from the vineyard, trying our best to capture the character of the year as it is. This also means that variance between the vintages is not only allowed but also seeked, because we believe it is very important to adapt to the year's conditions and make the best out of it.
